XCW: CHAMPIONS
MAY 14, 2005
The show opens running a video package, promoing the Bruce The Giant / Ken Shamrock match at BATTLE OF THE BURGH.
Mark Madden: Hello everyone, we are only two weeks away from BATTLE OF THE BURGH, where we will finally have an XCW Champion. As Bruce the Giant, the longest running NWA X Champion, takes on The World's Most Dangerous Man, Ken Shamrock. Shamrock has been on a roll lately, but can he overcome the size & power of Bruce? Speaking of the Giant, he will be my guest here in the studio on the X MARKS THE SPOT segment. We also have 3 great matches on tap tonight including seeing Prometheus in singles action and in our main event, we will see Team ECW vs The Dark Souls. So lets go to the ring as we have CM Punk facing Taka Michinoku.
CM Punk vs TAKA Michinoku
MADDEN: Standing leg lariat by CM Punk on TAKA. TAKA ducks a wild right hand. Stiff high kick on Punk by TAKA Michinoku. The referee goes down after accidentally getting caught by an elbow to the face. TAKA Michinoku blasts Punk with a super kick. Hooks the leg, but there's no referee to make the count. TAKA Michinoku misses a clothesline. Hard back suplex on TAKA. Spinning bulldog in the corner, TAKA is down. Hooks the leg : 1....2....shoulder up. Flying knee to the face from CM Punk. Pin : 1....2....no! They cut that one close. TAKA slips out the back of a CM Punk bodyslam. Flying cross body off the top rope! Pin : 1....2....no! They cut that one close. TAKA Michinoku misses a big legdrop. CM Punk floors TAKA Michinoku. Here it comes...Devil Lock! TAKA Michinoku taps!
-back in the studio-
Madden: Taka loses again. It's starting look like he is gonna be the resident jobber here on CHAMPIONS if he dosen't get things turned around soon. Ok after the break, we have another special video segment, this week we profile the XCW ICON...PROMETHEUS.

The show returned with a video packaging chronicaling PROMETHEUS, The Icon of XCW.
-unusally, the XCW Icon, did not begin his career in XCW. He actually debuted in the WWF, but never rose above low midcard status. In August of 1998, Prometheus made his WCW pay-per-view debut where he defeated the giant Reese. Prometheus climbed the ranks in WCW, even winning the WCW World title from Goldberg on November 12, 1998. It was a very short reign as he lost it to Roddy Piper just four days later. Then on December 12, 1998 on Nitro, Prometheus beat Dean Malenko for the WCW US title. At Starcade that year, Prometheus faced his mentor, Kanyon for the right to the MORTIS mask, in which Prometheus prevailed and set up the course of his career. As 1999 began, Prometheus formed an nWo off-shoot group called xWo [Xtreme World Order] On February 21, 1999, Prometheus defeated Scott Steiner for the WCW Hardcore title with help from the xWo. The reign was really short (less than 2 hours) as he issued an open challenge and was defeated by Goldberg. On April 15, Prometheus faced his fellow xWo member, Mr. Sinister for the vacant WCW TV Title. Prometheus won and then defended the belt at SLAMBOREE on May 9. In that match Prometheus was defeated by a much larger GOLIATH. The short title reighns continued for Prometheus. At BASH AT THE BEACH Prometheus once again had the chance to win a vacant title, this time the WCW International title, but was upset by DISCO INFERNO. Prometheus' career seemed to be in a free fall as he lost to Buff Bagwell at ROAD WILD and then wasn't seen for months. In October of 1999 XCW opened its doors with no signs of Prometheus. He made his return in WCW in November, competeing in a tournament to name a new WCW World Champion. At MAYHEM, Prometheus beat Perry Saturn in the Semi-Finals and then lost to Dean Malenko in the finals. As 1999 came to a close Prometheus left WCW and signed with...WWF. Yes thats right, Prometheus, the XCW Icon had yet to step foot in an XCW ring. That changed at the ONE WORLD ORDER : END OF A MILLENIUM BLOWOUT. Prometheus, representing WWF, faced Booker T (WCW) & Dennis Gregory (XCW). The match was a No-Contest as all 3 lockerrooms emptied and a huge brawl erupted. Prometheus was entered in the 2000 ROYAL RUMBLE. He entered at number 27 but was quickly dumped out by rookie BLUDMOONE. Once again Prometheus' career seemed to stall as he was beaten by Perry Saturn (whom he defaeted just 3 months earlier in WCW) at NO WAY OUT. Everything was about to change for Prometheus. And it would change him forever.

On April 3, 2000, current XCW champion issued an open challenge to anyone, not just XCW wrestlers to come and try to take the belt from him. Just then Prometheus appeared, just being released from WWF a day before. Prometheus defeated Bruiser to win teh XCW Title. Over the next few months Bruiser & Prometheus traded the title back and forth, until on June 26, 2000. On that day XTREME CHAMPIONS OF WRESTLING became XTREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING, when XCW owner, James Sims purchased ECW. On September 11, the biggest storyline in XCW was born. On that date Prometheus won his 3rd XCW title by beating his "mentor" Mortis. This fued went on for just a couple weeks as a return match was signed for ANARCHY RULES on October 1. After weeks of intense action between Mortis' group..The Network and Prometheus' xWo, a huge swerve was revealed. As Prometheus WAS Mortis. He turned on the xWo and offically joined Sims' Network. On the 1st Anniversary show, Sims debuted another retooled XCW as he had purchased WCW. Scott Steiner beat Prometheus to win the XCW title. At THANKSGIVING TERROR, Goldberg and Prometheus faced each other once again as both men were trying to once again climb the ladder to the top of the wrestling world. Prometheus prevailed in this match as well as the rematch at CHRISTMAS EVE MASSACRE. At this years ONE WORLD ORDER mega ppv, Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Prometheus. At January 2001's XCW: BLOODBATH, Prometheus competed in a Fatal 4-Way Match against Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, & a mystery opponent (Animal). Prometheus seemed to get injured in the match, and Steiner pinned him to retain the title. Prometheus run in XCW was over. Prometheus returned to the WWF and was a mystery entrant in the expanded ROYAL RUMBLE. Prometheus entered at #32 out of 32. He was eventually eliminated by another man making his return to WWF (Haku). On the January 25th edition of Smackdown, Prometheus won a Triple Threat match against Matt Hardy & Chris Jericho. Unfortunatly his history of short title reigns continued as he dropped the IC title to Undertaker just a few days later on RAW. March 23, 2001...a day every wrestling fan remembers. It is the day that Vince McMahon bought the wrestling world. McMahon's WWFE purchased XCW from James Sims and quickly closed the company. Prometheus returned to XCW for the final show and faced his biggest rival in XCW's early days...BRUISER. Vince eventually had WCW invade WWF, but Prometheus was no where to be seen. Then well over a year later, in December of 2002, Shane McMahon reopens XCW and invades WWE. Prometheus is a main cog in the XCW wheel. At ARMAGEDDON, an 8-Man Tag Team, Elimination match was booked to determine control of WWE television. Scott Steiner turned on Prometheus to allow WWE to get the win. But in 2003 XCW was back and in a BIG way. This time they were affliated with the NWA.
